OJAI, CALIFORNIA -Two time World Champion BMX rider Miss Cory Coffey announces that she is going to defend her title in Cologne, Germany. Reports questioned if she would be able to compete due to her most recent ACL reconstruction surgery in November. However, on Monday, Miss Coffey said at her home in Ojai, that she was training for the July World Championships. "I know I have a lot of hard work ahead of me, but I am determined to give it a try. I think my knee will be ready" said Miss Coffey. Recently, she has lost some major sponsorships due to the current economic climate. She expressed that she would not let this stop her, "I am a woman in a male dominated sport. I will work hard to pick up more sponsors but it may be hard...I can't let this discourage me. I am just going to focus on riding and hope that I get picked up".

The International BMX Freestyle Federation announced on its web site that the World Championships will be held July 10-12 at the Cologne Jugendpark in celebration of the parks 25th anniversary. "I am excited to return to Germany, I really enjoy riding at the Jugendpark. The design of the park works well with my riding style and I think I have a very good shot at winning again" said Miss Coffey when asked about this years contest location.
